Cannabis Coffee Houses Come to Alaska

But they’re not quite Dutch.

Sometime this year Alaska is going to open the first ever coffeehouse on American soil. Unlike the pot cafes we’ve all come to know and love in the Netherlands, Alaskan coffeehouses will apparently prohibit the use of marijuana and tobacco while at the cafe. Instead they will serve cannabis infused edibles. The state of Alaska is hoping to see a boost in tourism as a result of the cafes.

Harold and Kumar might find a bit less to do in Alaska since the state has yet to legalize prostitution, all drugs are not legal, and you cannot smoke in the open unfortunately. You can get high in a coffeehouse though!

At the moment there are no names or locations of any cafes yet set in stone but the state will begin accepting applications for cafe licenses starting Feb. 24. License issuance will begin as soon as May. Who knows, perhaps Alaska might become as happening as Amsterdam in the near future.
