These Cannabis Carrots will have her seeing clearer
This week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents stopped a truck meant to be carrying produce, traveling from Mexico to Texas, at the Pharr International Bridge. As it stands, the Veggies must have smelled a bit too good as the agents marked the vehicle for further inspection. With the help of some canine companions, agents discovered 2,500 pounds of the good stuff dressed as carrots.
2,817 containers of cannabis, disguised to look like carrots, were intercepted and taken into the hands of the feds. The 2,500 pounds of marijuana, comes out to just around half a million dollars street value, quite the haul… Or quite the loss.
Border patrol took the opportunity to tout the strengths and cunning of the force, while giving a nod to the drug smuggling organization’s “… creativity in attempting to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the border.” They must be creative indeed, as over $64 billion dollars are earned by the cartel every year from smuggling operations. Marijuana, however has had less of a push from the cartels with the rise of the legal cannabis market.
